Christmas is a big holiday at Andrew’s Legacy. In keeping with the theme of the bed and breakfast we decorate for Christmas with antiques, family heirlooms and dried and fresh flowers. The post Victorian décor lends itself to the old fashioned Christmas theme.
Many guests, seeing how well the B&B could lend itself to be a special holiday setting, have booked for Christmas during a summer or fall stay!
And there is nothing like a country Christmas. Quaint boutiques fill every small town you pass through. Cut-your-own Christmas tree farms dot the landscape. Lighting the tree on the village green, holiday concerts by church groups, chorals and schools add to the atmosphere of a vintage Christmas celebration. And if your shopping list looks more like it’s from the 21st century, Tanger Outlet Mall is on your way out and on your way back at the last exit of the Expressway in Riverhead.
Getting on the ferry and crossing Shelter Island to Sag Harbor, an old south shore whaling town, is a MacNish family tradition. We feel like we have stepped into one of Dicken’s English villages.
There are also several house tours during this season. In 2005, Andrews Legacy participated along with three other North Fork B&B’s, in the first annual Wassail Tour. We served homemade pound cake and Hot stuff (a citrus toddy and an old family recipe.) Local piano and violin students gave a holiday recital as guests toured the house. All proceeds went to Toy’s for Tots. Plans are now being made for another Christmas house tour on December 2 of 2006. Call for more information.
Andrew's Legacy is decorated for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving until the weekend after New Year’s Day. We look forward to sharing out holiday traditions with you.
